We are often asked how do you cost justify ERP? What will be the payback? How will we measure it? Where can we get it? How do we convert it into dollars and cents? The reality is that justifying ERP in the F&B industry in the classical cost/benefit analysis with hard numbers is very difficult. There is often no quantifiable way to develop a credible IRR for a new ERP project.

There are two, conflicting schools of thought about the interrelationship between business process reengineering and software selection. One school of thought says that process reengineering should be done first prior to executing a solution selection. The other school would have business process reengineering done in parallel to the software selection or during the implementation of the new software solution.
